Luxury holiday cottage to rent in Romaldkirk, Teesdale near Barnard Castle

Walks in the area

There is plenty of walking from the village - you can walk on the old railway path to Barnard Castle and Bowes Museum about 5 miles to the East or the other way into the Dales towards Middleton in Teesdale along the old Railway line to the west.

There is a walking map in the cottage under the guest information folder. If you walk up the hill towards some spectacular resevoirs such as Baldersdale, Blackton and Hury or up to High Force about 8 miles by car to see Britains highest waterfall ( straight through midd in teesdale towards Alston).

Whichever way you go you will be in wonderful but spacious scenery. Once you are through the Dale at Middleton you rise up to High Force and on to Langdon Beck and Cow Green Resevoir where you can see the fabulous Cauldron Snout. This man made waterfall is spectacular and stands at just short of 2000 feet, set into a newly established Nature Reserve.
